4 Beauty Regime Rituals for Beautiful Skin (Winter)

With winter fast approaching, the change in the weather can be very stressful on your skin. The low humidity during winter can cause the skin to become dry, flaky, dull and irritated.  When the temperatures change, a change in your skin care routine is necessary. So along with a proper skin care regime, a healthy diet is also essential for healthy skin.  Get to know your skin a little, how it works and the effects of winter conditions on the skin.

How should you alter your beauty regimen as winter approaches?
  1. Wash your face with a mild cleanser and rinse with lukewarm water. Avoid antibacterial soaps and very hot water.
  2. Apply a water-based moisturizer while your skin is still damp to seal in moisture before it's lost. For dryer skin, use a heavier cream
  3. If you have really dry skin, avoid toners as they dry it out even more. If you have oily or normal skin, try an astringent
  4. Exfoliate once a week to remove flaky skin.

Your December Party Survival Guide!

With the festive season in full swing, the parties have begun and everyone wants to look their best. But a few late nights, over-exertion, use of cosmetics and makeup, consumption of unhealthy food and drinks can take a toll on our health and looks.

If you are looking for a wonderful and easy way to keep yourself sparkled till the end of the season, here are a few tips to follow by Dr. Sangeeta Amladi - Head Medical Services at Kaya Skin Clinic.

  1. Hydrate your skin from within by drinking an adequate quantity of water.
  2. Before applying all your makeup, make sure your skin is clean and exfoliated. Use a good, gentle exfoliator and rub onto face in slow, circular motions. The circular motions will ensure good blood circulation and the exfoliating will remove dead skin cells, revealing a bright, new complexion. After you’ve exfoliated both face and body, moisturize from head to toe.
  3. Moisturizer is the key to soft, supple skin. For best results,  use a Moisturizing Cream  that minimizes water loss thus serving the purpose
  4. For instant brightening, go for a Vitamin C facial, or else try an instant hydrating mask.
  5. Even in the winter season, do not forget to apply sunscreen daily and when exposed to the sun, sunglasses are a must!
  6. During the party season, you tend to get puffy eyes. Splashing cold water in the eyes and the use of eye pads with cucumber, potato and green tea bags will help reduce puffiness.
  7. For the lips, use a balm that offers moisturizing and sun protection.
  8. For your skin, plan in advance and undergo services like skin polishing or hair reduction.
  9. At Kaya Skin Clinic, there are various services like fillers and BOTOX that can help enhance your features.
  10. Eating before partying is a must to minimize effects of alcohol.
  11. Skin needs to be conditioned from the inside as well as out. Choose foods and supplements enriched in vitamins which help vitalize your skin.
  12. Eat foods that are rich in anti-oxidants like fruits, vegetables that help kick-start your immune system.
  13. Remove makeup to maintain healthy skin. Use a skin cleanser to gently remove dirt, excess oil and makeup
  14. Soak a towel in ice cold water and press it to your face; this constricts blood vessels and there’s less fluid accumulation.
  15. Catch-up on some shut-eye. Sleep boosts the immune system and is the time your skin gets to regenerate
  16. For your hair, make sure to use a mild shampoo and a good conditioner
  17. Avoid hot dryers and in case you use hairsprays, glitter and other hair products make sure to wash off all the chemicals from your hair completely

    Quick fixes (Recommended)
    1. At Kaya Skin Clinic, we have a range of services like the Aqua Radiance and the Kaya Express Glow, for that instant party glow!

3 Beauty Regimes You Should Never Skip

Hi! Good Morning everyone!Hope you guys are doing great!! Three Beauty Regimes You Should NEVER Skip! Here you go!

Beauty Mantra No 1#: Slathering on sunscreen

why we skip it? : The Myth

1.We think we’re safe from the sun rays when we’re indoors!
2.We think all sunscreens are thick, greasy and irritating to skin.

Why should we do it? : The Truth

First, UVA rays still reach our skin and are a major cause of skin aging, wrinkles and dryness. So our little bottle of sunscreen is a must. Second, why should we worry about greasy products or skin irritation? We are smart and we know our skin type, right girls? So go hit the store and get the apt sunscreen for your skin type. (If you still don’t know your skin type, feel free to leave us a message. We shall explore your skin type and do wonders with your skin)

*Bejeweled Tip*: For the best protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays, use a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day. Be sure the label says “Broad-spectrum”Which means that the sunscreen protects you from both types of rays. Apply it on your skin 30 minutes before going into the sun. Then reapply every two hours or immediately if you have gone for a swim/shower. Choose a sunscreen designed for your skin type.

Beauty Mantra No 2#: Conditioning hair

why we skip it? : The Myth

    1. We think our hair is safe from damage and doesn’t need conditioning, especially if we don’t colour or chemically treat It.
    2. We don’t have extra time in the morning to apply conditioner after shampooing.

Why should we do it? : The Truth

In healthy hair, the cuticle (the hair strand is covered by the cuticle) is smooth and light easily reflects off, so the hair looks shiny. Unfortunately, chemical processes (like perming, colouring or relaxing) and heat styling tools (like blow-dryers, curling irons or flat irons) make the hair cuticle rough, damaged and dull. Conditioner coats your strands, leaving behind a thin film to protect the cuticle from moisture loss, harsh chemical treatments and styling damage. The protected cuticle becomes smooth and reflects light, leaving luminous locks.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to leave conditioner in your hair for a long period of time for it to work. The conditioner’s beneficial effects simply come from coating your hair, not from how long you leave it in.

*Bejeweled Tip*: The key is making sure you distribute the conditioner through your hair evenly. Concentrate on the ends, which tend to be dry and damaged. And because various types of conditioners offer different benefits, choose one suited for your hair?s specific needs.

Beauty Mantra No 3#: Exfoliating skin

why do we skip it? : The Myth:
we think skin’s natural cell renewal process automatically removes dead cells and replaces them with new, healthy ones. So no extra work is needed on our part.
We assume that exfoliation can irritate or damage skin.

Why we should do it? :The Truth:

Exfoliation is the removal of the oldest dead skin cells that cling to the skin’s outermost surface. As we age, the cellular turnover process slows, and dead skin cells don’t shed as easily. Instead, they accumulate on the skin’s surface, making our complexion look dull and feel rough. Got oily skin? Oil acts as glue that prevents dead skin cells from being shed. So exfoliation is necessary to keep your skin looking fresh and feeling smooth.

Another reason to exfoliate: Built-up dead skin cells form a barrier, preventing other skincare products or treatments from penetrating the skin. Therefore, these products don’t work as effectively, greatly reducing their potential benefits. Exfoliation allows products to more effectively penetrate the skin, and in turn, better product penetration may lead to better results and better-looking skin.

*Bejeweled Tip:* Over-exfoliation can be irritating, especially for dry or sensitive skin. It can also make your skin more vulnerable to sunburn or sun damage. Exfoliate twice weekly to maintain smooth skin or more often if your skin is oily.

Okay Girls, We shall be back next week with some more exciting tips. Until then, you girls keep rocking, and as we always say: Stay Healthy & Keep Glowing.

    Love,

    Kaya Team
