A Chat with Candice Pereira - Your Modern Day Wedding Planner

Kaya Skin Clinic has always given importance to beauty and spreading happiness to make you feel special on life's most important events. And of course, your wedding is on of the biggest and most important.

So, we would like to introduce Candice Pereira Creative Head & Co-Founder for Marry Me – The Wedding Planners, who will be regularly giving us tips and news from the wedding world. Here is a sneak peek into what they do.

So Candice, what inspired you to start Marry Me – The Wedding Planners & what got you into the business?

I come from a family that has been in the food & wedding industry for a while now. I have grown up seeing, experiencing and working on weddings. This only pushed me to start something of my own along with my partner, Jarret D’Abreo who has also had an extensive background in the corporate and event industry. We have a passion for weddings – design, good food, experiences, travel and all that comes with it – so wedding planning comes quite naturally to us!

What do you think is the main difference between Indian weddings abroad and here in India?

Indian weddings abroad tend to be more stylized and an interesting mix between traditional and modern. This is something we love and we focus on with a lot of our weddings too.

Over the past few years can you highlight what has changed in the wedding planning business? (Competition? Bollywood influence? Role of a planner?)

Over the last few years, we have seen a whole lot of event companies starting a wedding planning division. Wedding planning is an area that needs utmost attention, detailing and must be handled with care. It needs someone highly dedicated to be in such a role.

What's your best wedding moment ever?

We have done large weddings with thousands of guests and small, private weddings with just two guests! Our most special wedding moments have been at the private weddings we have done. In these weddings, we have seen that it is just about the couple, the two of them and nothing else in the world matters. We have deeply enjoyed working on these weddings!

Most rewarding wedding moment?

Definitely everytime we hear how this wedding could not have been done without us. That is THE most rewarding thing to hear!

Your number one tip for brides planning their big day?

Its your wedding! So think about what you are your partner are all about. Put your individual stamp on everything. Make your wedding reflect your personality, and guests will not only enjoy it but remember it for years to come. Remember, it’s the little touches that matter!

Also, don’t stress over the little things. Enjoy the day and all that comes with it!

Most exciting project that you have worked on?

Definitely the wedding of Malini Agarwal (MissMalini) and Nowshad Rizwanullah! They were such a great couple to work with and made things so easy for us. The whole planning process was so much fun and enjoyable. Malini was the most chilled out and relaxed bride to work with!

Of late many people have chosen to take up wedding planning as a career. Any advice to upcoming students that are probably planning weddings as a hobby?

Wedding planning is definitely not a hobby. It is a career to be taken very seriously as it is all about the most important day of two people’s and their families lives.

Tell us something about your best bride till date.

This is a difficult one! It is like asking a mother to pick her favourite kid! All our brides have been super special for different reasons. Most of our couples have become friends (some, really good friends) in the process. We hope we have a lot more super special brides, couples and friends going forward!
